Sandridge Barton - Winery Project

Sandridge Barton - Winery Project

The Brief

Duncan Schwab, CEO and Head Winemaker, who has been a valued customer of ours for many decades, approached us with the following production aims:

  • Wine tanks for fermentation and storage or red & white wine
  • A full temperature control system (both chilling & heating; in-tank at product level & cellar level)
  • Semi-automatic disgorging equipment
  • Grape reception equipment

The Solution

Having supplied Sharpham with Speidel tanks in the past, Duncan saw their benefits and wanted Speidel tanks to be part of the winery expansion. After finalising the specific requirements, we supplied Sandridge with the following:

  • 83,000 litres in total of Speidel tank capacity, to include FO-M red wine tanks & multi-chamber (2,4 and 5 chambers), MS-MO tanks with heat exchange/cooling jackets
  • A complete chilling system for the white wine tanks, and air cooling of the barrel room installed & commissioned by our engineers - consisting of a Quantor PRO 452R chiller unit, bespoke ringmain designed & fitted by our engineers, FermFlex Box, & buffer tank to provide chilled glycol on demand
  • 2 x Quantor Thermo Fan QC 40 and 2 x Thermo Fan SD-S 73 for the barrel room, via a Quantor PRO 452R chiller unit, bespoke ringmain designed & fitted by our engineers, FermFlex Box & buffer tank to provide chilled glycol on demand
  • A heating system for the red wine tanks to include an HW09 heating unit with Fermfix & Vario control
  • A Barida Muima TG semi automatic disgorging, dosing & topping, corking & muzzling machine
  • Enoveneta NE 300 Grape elevator & NC 2500mm grape sorting belt
  • Enoveneta PEV 60 peristaltic pump

The Result

'Ordering and shipping equipment in a lockdown was challenging with delays inevitable, however Vigo were able to pull the whole order together and deliver on time for the 2021 vintage. Installation was up to the usual exacting standards.' - Duncan Schwab, CEO and Head Winemaker
