Our Story

40 Years of Equipping Drink Producers

From our beginnings in 1984 to today, Vigo has grown alongside the drinks industry we serve.

1984

Vigo started at Bollhayes Park, founded by Alex Hill, a prize-winning cider maker. Vigo was born from a single press and a passion for cider.

1989

We secured our exclusive UK sales agreement with Voran, the industry leader in commercial apple processing, with extensive specialist knowledge in the industry.

1990

We partnered with globally renowned manufacturers Speidel, who have been manufacturing high quality beverage tanks for over 100 years and whose tanks are used by drinks producers around the world.

1996

We moved to Hemyock to increase warehousing and engineering space due to expansion.

2002

Due to continued growth, we moved to Dunkeswell, which has 20,000 feet of office, warehouse and workshop space — helping us grow our offering and continue providing producers with efficient equipment and spare parts supply.

2016

We partnered with ABE Beverage Equipment (American Beer Equipment), a leading original equipment manufacturer, to bring canning and brewhouses into the supply chain, thanks to their high reputation in the US craft beer market.

2016

We were proud to partner with The Newt in Somerset — one of England's most celebrated countryside estates — on the biggest project in our history: a complete cidery designed to be both a world-class production facility and an immersive visitor attraction. The four-year project gave The Newt a state-of-the-art pressing, fermentation cellar and bottling facility built to educate and inspire for years to come.

2017

We sold Vigo Presses Limited to a private investor — a strategic move to focus on the commercial sector.

2019

Andy Pegman became Sales Director after 8 years with the company. He continues to direct the Vigo team to ensure our customers get the very best advice and support.

2022

Vigo joined The Rawlings Group to facilitate a complete processing and packaging solution. Rawlings have 170 years of experience as independent glass packaging specialists — a momentous merger, joining a group that provides an end-to-end solution for producers.

2023

We partnered with Comac to supply kegging and rotary counter-pressure canning machines to the UK market. Comac Group is a worldwide leader in automated bottling machines, canning lines, and kegging equipment, with over 30 years in the industry.

2024

We introduced the first Willmes Sphera Press to the UK market — the Sphera 360° Pneumatic Press, the benchmark for gentle grape pressing, engineered for optimum juicing at minimum pressure. Willmes have 100 years' experience producing cutting-edge presses.

2024

We celebrated our 40th birthday, proud to have been supplying producers with tailored solutions and production support for 40+ years.

“We had a number of different sizes of older tanks that were inconvenient to use and took up a lot of space. Vigo were able to liaise with Speidel to get the exact specification we needed for the tanks and the delivery schedule. The tanks save space, are easy to use and keep clean, and offered excellent value for money.”
